Kadimah will be open for 2018-2019!

HURRAY!!! WE’RE OPEN FOR NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!
We are delighted to announce that Kadimah Academy will be open again next year for all students!
Through a combination of aggressive and responsible budgeting, and an outpouring of community, parent, teacher and alumni support, we were able to significantly close the gap that had threatened our ability to continue operating and educating Jewish students in Western New York. On Tuesday evening, the Kadimah Board of Trustees approved the scaled-down budget for the 2018-2019 academic year, after a lot of hard work and collaboration among board members, faculty and parents to rethink how we operate.
This was a very challenging and difficult situation for everyone, with shared sacrifice and leadership. But we worked particularly hard to ensure that the changes will not take away from our commitment to providing a high-quality education for our families and students. That is paramount to us, and central to our mission. The tremendous showing of parents, faculty and community members made a huge difference in demonstrating the support that Kadimah has, and the determination by all parties to make this a success.
To be sure, we are not out of the financial woods yet, but we are no longer in emergency. Now that the budget has been passed, the real hard work begins. The revised budget brought our deficit down more than 80 percent from what we faced before, but there is still a gap to close. However, this is much more manageable than before, and we believe we can achieve our goals through targeted fundraising for specific needs that will meet the desires and interests of our donors.
We are working very hard to ensure that Buffalo will have a fiscally responsible, educationally-strong community Jewish day school, one that you can all be proud of and eager to support. We know you expect a lot from us, and we intend to do our very best to meet those expectations. But we also need your help to do so.
Donors can sponsor a child, a teacher, field trip(s), books, technology, holiday programs, art or music, or some other special program within an academic subject area. We also plan to continue as usual with our annual dinner and calendar ad book next year (our 60th anniversary!), as well as our Annual Giving and Membership drive, and an Alumni campaign. Further, we will be exploring longer-term options for the future, with all ideas on the table. This is a community school, and a community asset. So we need to find new ways to ensure Jewish day school education can continue, in collaboration with Federation, our community leadership and our supporters. We will begin work immediately.
Thank you again for all of your support for Kadimah and for Jewish education in general. As always, feel free to reach out to us at any time with any questions or comments.
